Insurgent by Veronica Roth (Divergent Series #2)
I read Insurgent over the past few days, staying up until all hours of the morning because I couldn't/wouldn't stop. It was so good, that now, I feel depressed. I want to feel that excitement and suspense and the pure joy of reading a book I love, and I don't know what book to turn to for that experience now.
I do have some good books waiting to read and so I press on, but I'm not expecting them to be anything close to the experience I had reading Insurgent.
Wow, I'm really going to have to check this series out now. :) Did you ever read Ender's Game back when your husband did? I see Roth claims it as one of the sources leading to her writing.

"Roth began writing around the time she got too old to play pretend in the backyard. After reading the entire Animorphs series and Ender's Game a number of times, she knew exactly what genre she was headed for, and what age group. 'I never had the same enthusiasm for an adult book that I do for young adult literature,' she explains. 'I have a deep respect and love for this genre and these readers.'"
Maybe you should check it out if you haven't yet.
I did read Ender's Game, and I really liked it. And, you're right. If someone enjoyed reading Ender's Game, I think they will also like reading Divergent. I have to say I like Divergent even more than I liked The Hunger Games, and I was really excited about The Hunger Games.
ReplyDeleteCool... so which do I read first now? I just finished reading Game of Thrones, and the Hunger Games series is sitting on the shelf. Do I continue with the Game of Thrones series, jump to Hunger Games, or head straight for Divergent? Decisions... gah! I guess I have the opposite kind of depression. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's is a really tough decision! At least no matter which you pick, I think you'll be happy.
